Finlay Marrian
Finlay was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and brought up on the southern boundary of Nairobi National Park. The only division between the wild animals and his remote family home was the trickling Mbagathi river, set alongside the open windows of his father’s studio, the famous landscape artist David Marrian.
Finlay’s eagle eye for wildlife spotting was honed on the school run each day and on regular adventures into the wild and beautiful parts of East Africa. Finlay moved on to finish his schooling in the UK and spent a number of seasons in the hospitality industry in the exclusive ski resort of Verbier.
However, the call of the African bush was strong and in 2013 Finlay returned to Kenya and into the safari business full time; managing Borana Lodge in Northern Kenya and completing his professional guiding course. In 2015 he joined forces with his girlfriend Hannah to manage the world-acclaimed Richard’s Camp in the Maasai Mara. It was during these years that, under the guidance of Hannah’s high-end experience, Finlay mastered the art of bringing comfort and elegance to the wilderness.
His contagious laugh and light-hearted demeanour mean guests always want him along for the ride. There is no one better to have on your trip, his knowledge and passion will keep you engaged, his boundless charm will keep you smiling and you will definitely get “that” shot.
